Hey all! Many of you don’t know, but our programming works through various cycles of concentration based on proficiency of our Standard community and the need for improvement. For example, when we came back from COVID lockdown, do you remember how we were doing cleans virtually every stinking day? That’s because we knew we weren’t going to be able to do things from our rig, so we had to make sure everyone was up to snuff with their clean. Recently, we’ve done a lot of piked HSPU, pull-ups, and inversion practice… because we need better familiarity with them. …and we got it! People got their first pull-ups, learned to use a kip effectively, got upside-down for the first time, etc. This is the best way to get better.
So last month we were focused on gymnastics and benchmark workouts (barbara, Grace…) and for the next few weeks leading into our LM Testing cycle, we’re going to be more focused on barbell movements and re-visiting some Open Workouts. If you don’t know what an Open workout is, you’re going to love it. Typically we encourage all of you to train at an intensity that allows for you to get better; zero sloppy reps, good intensity without complete failure, high emphasis on safety. An Open workout is more like… get the work done, compete, allow mistakes when they happen. All that translated means: they hurt. The sense of accomplishment that follows enduring such a workout makes it worth it. I’m personally excited to take some on this month. So: Barbells and open workouts, along with ventilation-oriented (heavy breathing) biases… this is going to be fun!
That said, here are the workouts coming up!
